While Pope, Yell and Johnson Counties seemed to have dodged a bullet, when it comes to any significant storm damage on Sunday afternoon, parts of Conway County weren't quite as lucky. Emergency management director Johnathan Trafford, says a tornado warning was initially attached to the storms, but that was downgraded to a severe thunderstorm warning before being upgraded back to a tornado warning as it entered the Overcup area. Trafford says damage was done to a few homes and buildings, but there were also several downed trees and power outages. High winds, pea to marble size hail and torrental rainfall were associated with the severe thunderstorms that passed thru the area about 4:30 Sunday afternoon. Power outages were also associated with the storms, and Entergy crews were dispatched to begin restoration work. The damage was caused primarily by the strong winds, though reports of quarter-size hail were also noted with the storm. Trafford says, despite the damage, his office had no reports of injuries from the storm.
