TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A cold front will bring a chance of rain and wintry precipitation to parts of northeastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas during the weekend. The National Weather Service in Tulsa says a little sleet or snow could be mixed with the rain with the arrival of colder air early Saturday.
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) -On the day after Christmas, a massive holiday lights display in Conway boasting thousands of lights continued to draw larger crowds. Tony and Angi Brighter's "Holiday Magic" display features a multi-home computerized light display, which coordinates with music broadcast through the radio. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the Brighters display boasts more than 80,000 lights.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The incoming speaker of the Arkansas House says he sees economic development as the top priority for next year's legislative session, and he's leaving open the possibility that lawmakers can address highway funding issues, too. Republican Representative Jeremy Gillam, who will take over as the chamber's leader next month, said he believes efforts to cut taxes, overhaul the state's workforce education program and to address road needs are key to improving the state's economy.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - North Little Rock police say a pair of killings on Christmas Eve are unrelated. The Democrat Gazette reports officers responded to fatal shootings less than an hour apart. One man died in the Shorter College Gardens housing complex late Wednesday night, then officers responded to another fatal shooting near a motel a mile away.
