The two rivals and outside groups spent millions of dollars and blanketed Arkansas airwaves with a barrage of TV ads.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas' next governor will be a Republican. Asa Hutchinson has defeated Mike Ross in a race between two former congressmen. The GOP identified the race as its best chance to flip a governor's office. Hutchinson had lost to Governor Mike Beebe eight years ago. Beebe couldn't run again.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Voters have filled two open U.S. House seats in Arkansas. Republican French Hill defeated Democrat Pat Hays and Libertarian Debbie Standiford in the 2nd Congressional District and Republican state lawmaker Bruce Westerman is the winner in the 4th Congressional District over Democrat James Lee Witt and Libertarian Ken Hamilton.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas voters have approved a ballot measure to gradually increase the state's minimum wage. The proposal to raise the wage from $6.25 to $8.50 an hour by 2017 had enjoyed widespread support from Democrats and some Republican candidates, too.
