AS OF FRIDAY AFTERNOON, POPE COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSION HEADQUARTERS REPORTED A TOTAL OF 7808 VOTERS WHO HAD CAST THEIR BALLOT. IN YELL COUNTY, 1,639 BALLOTS HAD BEEN RECORDED AT THE COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICES IN DARDANELLE AND DANVILLE. IN JOHNSON COUNTY, 2,070 VOTES HAD BEEN RECORDED AT THE COURTHOUSE IN CLARKSVILLE.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A sharply divided Arkansas Supreme Court has sent a proposal to legalize alcohol sales in Saline County back to circuit court to determine if there are enough valid signatures to put the question on the November 4th ballot. Circuit Judge Grisham Phillips ruled last month that the petition fell nearly 90 signatures short after more than 150 signatures were disqualified.
LESLIE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State Police say a man shot during a gun battle with a Searcy County deputy sheriff and a state trooper has died. State police say the agency was notified yesterday that 75-year-old John Kolata died at a Little Rock hospital where he was taken following the October 17th shooting. Deputy Lang Holland was treated at a hospital and later released.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee woman has been charged with defrauding an Illinois couple by selling their stocks and property and keeping the proceeds for herself. A federal grand jury in Memphis charged 42-year-old Martha Bizzell of Crump, Tennessee with fraud.
BLACK ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State Police say a 23-year-old Hardy woman was killed in a four-vehicle collision on Highway 63 near Black Rock. Trooper say Natosha Brink died in the crash on Thursday.
